Last night, I met Will in Lincoln Square after work. We had a mission: selecting our wedding rings.
Will is using his grandfather’s ring, it just needed to be sized. I love that we are able to re-use an heirloom of sorts (I learned at the jeweler that the ring we are using was actually his grandfather’s replacement ring because the first one was lost, but I don’t think that diminishes the overall luster of the story).
(Mushy sidenote: seeing the jeweler slide rings on Will while we were determining the size made me a little gooey inside. My groom!)
My engagement ring was custom-designed (I’m so fancy!) so I wanted a wedding ring that would look like part of a set. I spent a good amount of time debating between 2.5 and 3 millimeters width, and yes, I know how crazy that sounds.
Meanwhile, two other guys came into the shop to pick up their wedding rings. Let me just say that there is nothing more adorable than a guy trying on his wedding ring. I’d never given it much thought before, but for most of them, this is the first ring they’ve ever worn. They were replete with questions: Should it be looser? How much will my hand-size change when it’s cold out? Does it look too tight? So sweet.
Wedding rings ordered, we headed down the street to our favorite Indian restaurant. I could eat their Butter Chicken all day.
