I’m still loving the oil cleansing method. Lately, I’ve heard a lot of raves about coconut oil as a moisturizer. I’m sure it smells amazing!
In the past week or so, I’ve had two humorous “fail” moments with natural beauty. Warning: I’m about to write about pimples and my feet. Not pimples on my feet. Separate stories.
First, pimples.
I had bad acne in Junior High, so I’m a little hypersensitive about all things blemish. About a week ago, I was starting to get a pimple and wanted to squash it quickly.
Enter, vague memories of being at a Body Shop at the mall with my mother when I was about thirteen. I swear there was discussion of the benefits of tea tree oil for acne. Despite the seventeen years separating me from this knowledge, I decided to grab the tea tree oil from my arsenal and dab it on the pimple.
The next morning, it had almost tripled in size and scabbed over. Undaunted, I put on more tea tree oil. A lot more.
More expanding, more scabbing.
I finally did some internet research. Turns out tea tree oil is good for acne… but you are supposed to dilute it in a carrier oil first. Pure tea tree oil can burn your face. Yep. The scab is just now starting to go away.
Next, my feet.
I had a stressful day last week and decided to take a bath to relax. Not willing to pass an opportunity to use my beloved oils, I added a few drops to the running water. Well, perhaps more than a few drops. Anyway, shortly thereafter Will and I were headed to dinner with some friends. I wore a sundress and sandals because it was hot-as-the-sun outside.
My super-oiled, over-moisturized feet couldn’t stay still in my sandals. I was sliding all over the place. Going down the stairs to get off the El was especially perilous. Oy.
Not entirely sure what the solution is for that one… perhaps less oil? Only doing oil in the baths when I’m going straight to bed after? Usually, oil in the bath just soaks into my skin, so this sandal sliding was quite unexpected.
