You love eating – and do so with vigor – but hate the associated clean-up that comes after. In particular, you vehemently object to having your face wiped off. Wet towel, dishrag, baby wipe – you hate them all uniformly and strenuously.
Now that you fit a little better into a high chair, we have been taking you out for lunches more often. This is key as we meet new mom-friends! You even ordered off the kids menu recently (and had a mouse-shaped pancake). You are so patient and love the people-watching that restaurants offer. We bring your favorite straw cup (and strap it to your high chair) and you are all set.
One of your newest tricks is to arch your back while I’m holding you. With one arm around your waist and a hand behind your head (safety first!) I lower you backwards. You throw your hands up over your head and beam. Your whole face lights up, baby girl. I want to remember that face forever.
You are fearless. At swim class, you put your face in the water without prompting (and you’ve started to do that at home when you are in the tub). Last week, you blew bubbles in the water! On dry land you climb all over everything and zip around the condo getting into whatever you can. You are so close to walking, baby girl.
As these pictures show, you are almost always laughing. You crack yourself up! I’m constantly repeating whatever random action on my part caused you to erupt into giggles because your laughter is the best thing ever.
We got you blocks from the local toy store and you love to knock over the towers your father and I build for you. Your favorite block is this blue cylinder that came with the set. You dig through all of the blocks to find that specific one and they carry it around with you as you cruise through the living room. You love it so much that we had to include it in your monthly photos here.
You love clapping (and love making other people clap if they hold out their hands to you). You do this adorable backwards wave where you keep your palm facing you as you greet people. We are teaching you to high-five.
I’ve been taking you to music performances – this city is full of free performances by some awesome childrens’ entertainers! You love Laura Doherty (she has a song about a kitty cat!) and Miss Jamie from the Farm (she has egg shakers!) and I love watching you take it all in. I’m pretty much always making up songs about you or the cat while we are at home, so it’s nice to let the professionals take over.
Every night, as we zip you into your sleep sack, I tell you goodnight and recount the adventures we had that day. I’m so lucky, baby girl. You are so much fun.
