The Object: A green tin full of pennies.
The Origin: My maternal grandfather.
The Backstory:
My grandfather (whom we affectionately called “Granddaddy”) passed away when I was thirteen. When small, personal items were divided between the grandkids, Kerry and I each got a canister full of coins.
This thing is surprisingly heavy. I laugh when people try to pick it up, not realizing what’s inside. It would make a pretty solid doorstop. I’ve dug through, and there are some wheat pennies, but most are standard pennies from the past 50 years.
It really is just a metal canister full of pennies, but I love it.
