Ever since starting my own business in April, I’ve been working from on office in our second bedroom.
I love it. Here’s why:
Setting my Own Schedule – After years – YEARS – of mandated, crazy-long hours, it’s so nice to be the master of my own time. I know, most employees must maintain a certain schedule but I love being my own boss. My sister and I have become good gym-buddies (I can go to those classes they offer in the middle of the day!) and I schedule calls and meetings around my own priorities. It’s nice. It’s also way more productive.
Furry Coworkers – Most days look like this:
Cheap Lunches – Lunch downtown adds up! It’s hard to get a decent lunch for under $5. I know, I could have brought my own lunch, but I forgot most days. I probably wasn’t all that dedicated. Whatever. No longer relevant! Since the kitchen is right next door, I don’t have to worry about forgetting to bring leftovers from last night’s dinner. Seriously, the first time I looked at my credit card bill post-corporate job, it was drastically lower.
Singing Parties – I love to sing. I’m bad at it. The cats have no real way of expressing their discontent. Suckers. Yesterday, they heard “Call Me Maybe” at least ten times.
