This weekend, my mom and sister threw me a Bridal Shower at a local brunch place, Southport & Irving.
First, let me just say that Southport & Irving is flawless. The food was fantastic, the staff was so friendly, and the mimosas were flowing without pause. If you are looking to host any kind of lady-gathering (or, heck, if you just want brunch), this is the spot. You are welcome.
My sister did an amazing job putting together trivia games. The first one was about me (Question: What is Helena’s biggest irrational fear? Answer: Sharks). The second was about weddings in general (Question: Who popularized the white wedding dress? Answer: Queen Victoria). It was really fun and the winners got prizes. Who doesn’t like prizes?
For brunch, I had trouble choosing between the Bananas Foster French Toast and the Violet Beauregard (blueberry pancakes with blueberry sauce and blueberry gelato). At our server’s recommendation, I got the french toast. This just means I have to go again for the pancakes. Life is full of tricky choices.
It was so nice to get everyone together. I’m always flattered when people drive in from the Chicago suburbs to see/celebrate with me! Without melting into a complete mushball, let’s just say that I’m a pretty lucky lady.
